The causes of the fire that consumed the iconic record store from the inside are still unclear Neseblod Records in Oslo, previously owned by the founder of Mayhem Oysten Aarseth under the name Helvete (“hell” translated from Norwegian), considered the official base of the then nascent Scandinavian black metal scene. Closed in the early Nineties following the bad publicity surrounding acts of vandalism linked to the well-known events of the Inner Circle, if you are a metal enthusiast – as we assume you are if you are tuned into MH Italia – passing through Oslo, it is difficult to miss the appointment with Neseblod, currently visited both for its historical value and as a point of sale. It is precisely from the famous basement, with the bare wall occupied by the writing Black Metal with the T in the shape of an inverted cross, which according to the Norwegian newspaper Verdens Gang (VG) appears to have started the fire. Co-owner Kenneth Neseblod, on the pages of VG, states that to date many of the materials on display were not for sale, but many memorabilia of authentic museum value linked to the history of extreme metal in Norway were destroyed, including original demos, cassettes and many letters that were quite widespread in the metalhead community at the time. The Go Fund Me platform has already started collecting financial aid to bring a piece of extreme music history back to glory.
