In the suggestive setting of the feast of the Holy Face of Chiusa Sclafani, a cultural event of particular importance is included among the traditional celebrations: the study meeting entitled “The face among the faces. History, art and devotion”, scheduled for May 4th starting at 5.30 pm at the majestic Mother Church of Chiusa Sclafani.

The event promises to be an extraordinary opportunity to explore the many facets linked to history, faith and devotion that for centuries have surrounded the Holy Face of Christ, a focal point in the most significant moments of the life of the local community.

One of the central themes will be the analogy with the Basilica of the Sanctuary of Manoppello, where another Holy Face of Christ is kept. The rector Fra Antonio Gentili will represent the Manopellina community, who will help create a bridge between identity, faith and popular devotion between the two towns.

The study meeting is also an opportunity to revisit the local collective historical memory, promoting the religious-cultural legacy between past, present and future in order to guarantee significant continuity for future generations.

After the institutional greetings from Don Bernardo Giglio, archpriest of Chiusa Sclafani, the mayor Francesco Di Giorgio, Frà Antonio Gentile, rector of the Basilica of Manoppello and Manuele Ruvolo, president of the Confraternity of the Santissimo Volto will speak.

The scientific reports will be held by illustrious experts in the sector: Don Giovanni Vitale, director of the Diocesan Historical Archives of Monreale, will delve into the theme “Fra Innocenzo da Chiusa Sclafani: a religious man at the service of the pontifical sovereigns”; Professor Rosalia Francesca Margiotta, professor of History of Modern Art at the University of Palermo, will expose the historical aspects of the “Copy of the Holy Face from Rome to Chiusa Sclafani”. Finally, the architect Maria Lucia Bondi, artistic-cultural representative of the Municipality of Chiusa Sclafani, will address the theme “The Holy Face and Devotion in Chiusa Sclafani”. The journalist and writer Mario Liberto will moderate the event.

This meeting represents an unmissable event that offers everyone the opportunity to connect with their history, their faith and their identity, inviting each participant to actively contribute to the cultural and spiritual richness of the Chiusa Sclafani community.
