CAPOLIVERI. A friendship that has withstood time and distance. Born in a small town in the heart of Spain and remained strong despite the fact that their lives went in opposite directions. It is for this reason that Gwyneth Paltrow, Hollywood star, made a hit and run in Capoliveri. What is the Shakespeare in Love actress doing on the east coast of the island? Of course, the beauty of the place played an important role, but the real reason is that the very blonde actress moored the yacht on which she is spending a relaxing period with her partner off the coast of the island of Elba to find the of her best friend Cristina Lazaro Ruiz. The Spaniard, from Elba by adoption, runs the Elba Kitchen cooking school in via delle Grazie, in Capoliveri, with her partner Andrea Conte.
The cooking school
A school that couldn’t have had more effective advertising than the one the Hollywood star did with a simple story on Instagram. Paltrow, in fact, uploaded some shots of the cooking class she attended to her social profile. «Elba Kitchen Club is so much fun – she wrote – If you want to find yourself on the island of Elba, in Tuscany, learn how to make pasta». For the film star, the stop in Capoliveri served to return to her time as a student in Spain, in the town of Talavera de la Reina, of which she is an honorary citizen.
Friendship
The young Gwyneth met Cristina and her family in that period. A bond that has remained strong over time. «With my partner we were invited to the Oscar Night – she says – she came to Elba to stay with us for a while, she made me very happy. In all these years we have always been close.” Paltrow hasn’t missed an opportunity to try her hand at the kitchen. «She is a great cooking enthusiast – says Cristina Lazaro Ruiz – she has already published some recipes. What did I have her cook? Ravioli, after all, the courses we do in the summer are mainly dedicated to fresh pasta. She did very well, after all she is very good at cooking.”

Cristina Lazaro Ruiz opened the cooking school in Capoliveri in 2019. A place where you can live cooking experiences as everyone desires in an environment that offers various possibilities.
