Now Monster is about to finally make its debut in Italian cinemas: it will arrive in theaters from August 22nd with BiM Distribuzione and with the Italian title of L’Innocence.

Minato, who is 11 years old and lives with his widowed mother, begins to behave strangely and returns from school more and more dejected. Everything suggests that a teacher is responsible, so the mother rushes to the school to find out what is happening. But the truth, as often happens in Kore’eda’s films, will turn out to be different and the facts will reveal a profound and touching story of friendship.
Also thanks to the latest soundtrack composed by the great Ryuichi Sakamoto before dying, Innocence it is a film that multiplies points of view to address different issues, such as fake news, moralism, bullying, contradictions inherent to Japanese society. Above all – as he tells it Federico Gironi in his review – is a film that focuses on that delicate border area between childhood and adolescence, and on the eternal theme of love.
