The question Avengers as for i Marvel Studios still holds sway, because we have no longer had official information on what will happen, yet there are now many reports that focus on one element: something will certainly change.
The discontent was already there before the charges against Jonathan Majors were made official, but now that he has been found guilty it seems obvious his replacement as Kang. However, the possibility, now real, is that the character will be set aside completely, shifting attention to a new villain.
All this inevitably passes through a film, or rather, through a title: Avengers 5. What had been announced with great fanfare as The Kang Dynasty according to several reports it is now only Avengers 5waiting for the reservations about the character and the storyline dedicated to him to be resolved.
The most likely option given the scale of the event is that the two Avengers films share the title: Avengers: Secret Wars – Part 1 and Avengers: Secret Wars – Part 2, which would also make sense from a narrative point of view. Given that the crossover will have much bigger ambitions than Endgame it would almost be obvious to spread it over two films, also dividing the many actors who will take part in it, between cameos and so on.
The story will therefore change accordingly: no more Variants upon Variants of Kang to face in the single film, but a villain who could recall Doctor Doom precisely of Secret Wars seen in the comics, who becomes the king of the world that will be created with the raids. And who knows, maybe it’s Destiny who appears in the Fantastic Four film, with such a plan already in place for some time.
All this, obviously, net of a simple recast of Kang’s character and of a narrative arc that proceeds on the same tracks as before, only with a different face. Bob Iger also talked about the future MCU and the Avengers.
