After JK Rowling attacked Harry Potter stars for siding against her in the ‘battle’ against the trans community, the lead actor Daniel Radcliffe responded to the creator of the franchise during a new interview.

Speaking to The Atlantic, the Harry Potter interpreter commented: “It makes me really sad in the end, because I think back to the person I knew, the person I met so many times over the years, and the books he wrote and the incredible world he created, and all I can think of is just empathy.”

In 2020, JK Rowling shared anti-transgender thoughts and at the time Daniel Radcliffe was among the first cast members of Harry Potter to raise their voices in defense of the trans community. Radcliffe wrote an essay for the Trevor Project stating that “transgender women are women”, now the actor recalled: “I worked with the Trevor Project for 12 years and it would seem like, I don’t know, It’s immense cowardice not to say something about it, at that time. I wanted to try to help people who had been negatively affected by his comments. And to say these are just Jo’s opinions, not everyone associated with the Harry Potter franchise.
