Filming recently concluded, but a lot still needs to be revealed. How will the events of the protagonists who characterized the original film released over twenty years ago continue? Who will return? Gladiator 2? But above all: how much did it cost to produce a sequel of this caliber?

According to what reported by the Hollywood Reporter, the budget of Ridley Scott’s film it would literally skyrocket, going out of control and against every rosiest statistical prediction. The monstrous figure broke through the barrier of 300 million dollars.
In other words, the cost item for Gladiator 2 was doubled, which should have stopped at 165 million dollars. The reason behind this increase in costs would be poor management, according to one of the sources cited by colleagues at the Hollywood Reporter. To push up expenses, the strikes that took place during the months of filmingspecifically $600,000 per week, for a total of over $10 million until returning to work around December 2023.
Let us remember that the production also had to deal with countless other misfortunes, to put it mildly, including the injury of four crew members with serious but non-lethal burns. And again the reports of animal abuse (including monkeys and horses) sent by PETA and directed precisely at Ridley Scott.
In short, a film with a troubled production, which however seems to have finally found the way to a conclusion worthy of the name it bears. Now all that remains is to sit and wait patiently for the trailer which we will probably see shortly and which, we are sure, will clarify various aspects related to the plot and its characters.
