Beau DeMayo, showrunner of the first two seasons of X-Men ’97has revealed the episodes of the classic series to watch in preparation for the three-part finale.
The episodes to catch up to better appreciate the three-part finale are:

X-Men ’97: the plot
X-Men ’97 revisits the iconic era of the ’90s, as the X-Men, a group of mutants who use their extraordinary powers to protect a world that hates and fears them, are tested like never before, forced to face a new dangerous and unexpected future. The voice cast in the original version includes Ray Chase (Cyclops), Jennifer Hale (Jean Grey), Alison Sealy-Smith (Storm), Cal Dodd (Wolverine), JP Karliak as Morph, Lenore Zann as Rogue, George Buza as Beast, AJ LoCascio (Gambit), Holly Chou (Jubilee), Isaac Robinson-Smith (Bishop), Matthew Waterson (Magneto) and Adrian Hough (Nightcrawler). Beau DeMayo is the head writer; the episodes are directed by Jake Castorena, Chase Conley and Emi Yonemura. With music by the Newton Brothers, Brad Winderbaum, Kevin Feige, Louis D’Esposito, Victoria Alonso and DeMayo serve as executive producers on the series.
