The fourth episode is a screenplay by Leonardo Marini with the collaboration of Cristina Cassar Scalia taken from the novel “La Salita dei Saponari” by Cristina Cassar Scalia published by Giulio Einaudi editore.
In the fourth episode which is entitled “LA SALITA DEI SAPONARI” a man was killed in the car park of Catania airport. This is the sixty-year-old Esteban Torres, Cuban, with dual American and Italian citizenship, resident in Switzerland. From the first searches, the victim turns out to be an unusual and suspicious character: very rich, but it is impossible to define what his real job is, under the vague label “import export”.
Even his wife Evelyn, who comes straight from Switzerland, does not deny that her late husband could have been involved in illegal trafficking. In short, Vanina discovers that Esteban Torres was a top man in the American mafia and a cornerstone of the relationship between American and Sicilian clans. But above all, a new corpse soon turns up: a woman, Roberta Geraci, has been brutally murdered, and it immediately emerges that this crime is linked to that of Torres. Vanina will have to face a truly surprising investigation, which will range from the distant reality of an international intrigue to the deepest and most archaic dimension of her Sicily.
The drama, produced by Palomar for RTI and directed by Davide Marengo, also boasts Claudio Castrogiovanni, Orlando Cinque, Corrado Fortuna, Dajana Roncione, Giulio Della Monica, Danilo Arena, Paola Giannini and Alessandro Lui in the cast. The series is based on the novels of Cristina Cassar Scalia and written by Leonardo Marini.
