The portrait of the artist proposed in the film The Painter it is certainly unprecedented, the result of the unique and intimate gaze that the daughter has towards her mother.

From Paparatti’s personal objects, such as books, caftans, jewels, Buddhist idols, colours, collected over years of life and travel, to the environments she is familiar with, the film leaves nothing out, not even the lines that reveal Anna’s unmistakable verve and the scenography created in 2022 for the fashion show Diorwanted by Mariagrazia Chiuri.

From the artist’s personal archive emerge unique archive images, photographs and works, as well as fragments of important films that have shown his works: a collage expertly harmonized by Fabiana Sargentini, born from Paparatti’s relationship with Fabio Sargentinifrom whose gallery Lactic some of the most important artists and intellectuals of the 60s and 70s passed by.

Where to see “La Pitturessa”

Premiered at Rome Film Festival last year, the documentary The Painter will be screened Tuesday 16 April 2024 at the Fratelli Marx cinema in Turin, in the presence of the artist herself.

The film will then be visible on April 18th at the Cinema Arlecchino in MilanThe April 19th in RomePaparatti’s adopted city, at the Cinema Farnese and in other Italian cities.
