Snyder revealed details about the canceled film, which would have been set in the mid-1800s

Zack Snyder recently revealed more information about his plans for a potential prequel to Wonder Woman in the DCEU, which ultimately never saw the light of day.

Snyder’s original plans appear to have gone in the opposite direction then taken by the controversial Wonder Woman 1984, e.g would have seen Gal Gadot’s Diana in an even more remote era instead of the colorful 80s. It would also have explored more of the relationship between Diana and the first film’s main antagonist, Ares, played by David Thewlis.

In an interview with Empire, Snyder revealed his plans to explore Wonder Woman’s other journeys outside of Themyscira in a film which would have been titled Wonder Woman 1854. Apparently the initial idea was to see Diana go in search of Ares, once she abandoned his homeland:

My idea was that she would travel the world looking for Ares and go to every place where there was conflict. On those battlefields she found lovers, warriors, who grew old because she is immortal. They were her lovers for ten years or they could die in battle, and she would be sad for many of them… but they were loyal warriors that she found on battlefields around the world“.

Snyder then hinted to the idea of bringing Steve Trevor back too: “We talked about the presence of Steve Trevor in Crimea. It never became a script, but we talked about it so much that it had a life of its own“.

Wonder Woman 3 was set after The Flash and featured the return of Ben Affleck’s Batman [RUMOR]

Snyder’s comments echo an earlier tweet from 2021 that hinted at other Wonder Woman stories, but the new story details give a better idea of what might have happened if the DCEU had taken a different path for Wonder Woman .
