5 villains who would be perfect for Spider-Man 4 with Tom Holland
Descriptive text here

In the review of Spider-Man No Way Home I talked about a film that closes the circle on the narrative arc of Tom Holland’s “Spider Boy”, opening another. Now we all wait Spider-Man 4an MCU cinecomic still without an official title, and in the meantime let’s try to imagine 5 perfect villains for the next feature film.

Impossible not to start from Kingpin, given that Vincent D’Onofrio’s Wilson Fisk is now part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe in full force and already has two notable appearances under his belt, in Hawkeye and Echo respectively. Seeing him sink his claws into New York, with our friendly neighborhood spider who can’t stand back from his cruelty, would be downright intriguing. This perspective would then bring the good Spidey back to a more “urban” tone, after his recent and bombastic galactic and interdimensional incursions.

This new narrative parenthesis of Peter Parker, however, should also start from Goblin. We know, however, that Oscorp does not yet exist within the MCU, as confirmed by Willem Dafoe’s Norman in No Way Home. But that’s not to say that the evil Osborn isn’t out there somewhere, ready to build his corporate empire and become the iconic villain that will forever torment Spider-Man. It’s about time we saw the Earth-616 Green Goblin from the MCU, right?

And then of course there’s Venom: the idea of seeing a Peter tormented by his own demons, prey to the fury of the symbiote, is quite intriguing, especially if we consider the traumas that this Spider-Man had to face in previous films. Furthermore, a post-credits scene from No Way Home confirms that Kevin Feige’s MCU is ready to welcome the lethal protector, given that a piece of Venom’s membrane remained in this universe after Eddie Brock was transferred back to his Earth of membership.

Ezekiel, with its connection to the spider world and its strong religious connotation, would be a different antagonist than usual for Tom Holland’s Spider-Man. It’s a shame that, for now, the character has been badly wasted in one of the worst flops of recent years. For everything else there is our review of Madame Web.

I conclude by borrowing another figure from the controversial Sony Spider-Man Universe: Kraven the Hunter. The idea of making the web-slinger a constantly fleeing prey is perhaps too reminiscent of the concept of No Way Home, in which the protagonist almost becomes a world’s most wanted man, but the brutal fights that Sergei would force him into would be worth the price of the ticket. Also in this case we have the standalone film about the hunter coming soon, which for the moment does not seem to be directed towards a possible meeting with Spidey.

What do you think about it? Which villains would you like in Spider-Man 4?
