PISA. Piazza Vittorio Emanuele II is, since yesterday, the theater of the 1st padel trophy “Città di Pisa”. The event, which will end on July 7, is organized by the Pisa Padel Club with the patronage of the Municipality of Pisa and the collaboration of Confcommercio Provincia di Pisa. For eight days athletes of all ages will compete on the courts set up in Piazza Vittorio Emanuele II, which will also give all enthusiasts the opportunity to play in an exclusive location in the heart of the historic center of Pisa.
Yesterday afternoon the ribbon was cut for a true full immersion in the world of padel, with matches, lessons, tournaments and events scheduled every day from 9am to midnight. «The Pisa Padel Club is a club born in May 2021 and located in Asciano Pisano, where we always try to entertain our athletes with new programs and initiatives, such as the creation of this event – explains the president of the Pisa Padel Club, Alessandro Selmi – the idea was born from the awareness of how padel is constantly on the rise and is an inclusive, engaging sport suitable for all ages and all levels of play. A discipline that is continually growing and capable of generating enthusiasm, so much so that the Italian tennis federation has incorporated it, becoming the Italian tennis and padel federation (Fitp). In 2024 a pre-Olympic tournament will be organized at the Paris Olympics and it will almost certainly be present as an Olympic sport in the 2028 Olympics.”
Hence the idea of ”creating a first padel trophy in Pisa. «We are proud to support an initiative that, in addition to representing an exceptional event in the sporting tradition of our city, allows you to experience and animate the historic center for the benefit of the commercial fabric, offering the opportunity not only to padel enthusiasts and those who practice this sport, but to all citizens and visitors to enjoy a unique show in the heart of Pisa », says the president of Confcommercio Province of Pisa, Stefano Maestri Accesi,

We are proud to have collaborated immediately in the organization of a one-of-a-kind event and we continue to support the associations that also invest in the valorization of the territory”, declares the Sports Councilor of the Municipality of Pisa, Frida Scarpa.
The field set up is the same as that which is set up in squares and sports halls for international events and the tournament is divided into 3 levels of play: beginner, intermediate and advanced for both men and women and will be accompanied by other spectacular events. Throughout the week in Piazza Vittorio Emanuele we will have padel lessons for children and adults and the possibility of booking the court from 9 in the morning. Gustavo Spector “mister padel” will also be present on Sunday 7 July: the most famous padel master in Italy.
