In the Pisan town, thanks to Ciclistica Mobilieri Ponsacco, the passionate local manager Modiano Freschi and the sponsor Macelloni dell’Oasi del Verde, the two regional championships for rookies 1st and 2nd year took place, one week before the tricolor scheduled for Sunday 7 July in Tuscany, in Marginone di Altopascio. Among the 13 year old athletes, 44 starters, Mattia Iacopi from Pedale Toscano Ponticino from Arezzo prevailed with his first success of the season. It often happens that outsiders are protagonists in championships when the favorites control each other.
Very good therefore both Iacopi and Belloni, who created the decisive breakaway, separating the group by almost a minute, with a clear success in the sprint by Mattia Iacopi, Niccolò’s twin, who came seventh, and who lives in Castiglion Fibocchi. The race included three laps of a circuit with the Fauglia climb. Present at the event were the regional coach of the category Roberto Moretti, the president of the Tuscany Regional Committee Saverio put, the mayor of Crespina Lorenzana Davide Bacci. In the regional test for 14-year-old athletes, the title was won by Duccio Menici from Fosco Bessi of Calenzano from Prato, who confidently managed the three breakaway companions with whom he started the breakaway. The two races confirmed a certain selectivity of the Cenaia track and the two Tuscan titles were awarded in tight sprints. For Menici, who has a brother (Pietro) who races among the students, this was the third victory of the season.
