The smartphone family Google Pixel 9 and the couple formed by iPhone 16 Pro e 16 Pro Max of Apple will have something in common: the display oledThe Korean portal ET News reported the indiscretion, according to which the two most anticipated smartphone lines of the second half of 2024 will host the same high-performance panel. The supplier appears to be Samsungwhich has long been putting its signature on the displays of the main top-of-the-range models of other brands as well.
The new Pixel 9
The launch of the new Pixel 9 range is scheduled for August 13: the protagonists of the presentation will most likely be a standard model and a Pro one. To complete the proposal, also a new foldable, Pixel 9 Fold. However, it seems that only the former will be mounted with the Samsung’s new generation of OLED displayscalled M14capable of guaranteeing top-of-the-line performance. The same panel will be on board the iPhone 16 Pro and 16 Pro Max, expected next September, thus confirming Apple’s desire to continue the collaboration with Samsung that began a few years ago.
The main features of the display
Again from Etnews we also get to know something more about the Samsung M14 display: it is a panel designed for top-of-the-range smartphones, which offers high-level performance in terms of colour reproduction and contrast, while ensuring low energy consumption.
The name is not chosen by chance: the panel will be composed of 14 different materials and is designed to achieve a 1200 nits brightness (20% more than the current iPhone 15 Pro) and peak up to 1600 nits in HDR mode (confirming the values of the current models). The dimensions will not be the same on all new smartphones, however: they will in fact go from the predicted 6.03″ of the Pixel 9 up to the 6.9″ of the iPhone 16 Pro Max.
