Work continues on the doubling of the railway line between Pistoia and Montecatini Terme, on the Florence – Pistoia – Viareggio line, with the aim of ensuring better regularity of railway operations with an expansion of the service offered.
To allow the construction sites to operate, the movement of trains between Pistoia and Montecatini Terme, as announced by RFI, will be suspended from Saturday 13 July to Saturday 31 August.
In the Municipality of Serravalle Pistoiese The construction of the emergency aprons and related safety systems of the new tunnel, completed in the previous operational phases, is planned. In the same municipality, the new road system replacing the level crossings will also be opened to traffic, with simultaneous activation of the new connected hydraulic works and construction of the doubling site with anti-noise barriers.
Work is also continuing on the construction of noise barriers in the Municipality of Pieve a Nievolewhile in Municipality of Montecatini the final layout of the tracks, as well as the safety and electric traction systems in the Montecatini Terme station for the connection of the doubling, is being completed.
Finally, work continues for the construction of new sections of the railway superstructure, the electric traction, safety and signaling systems of the new track, as well as the related hydraulic and road works.
To allow the works, railway traffic will be allowed from Saturday 13 July to Saturday 31 August 2024 between Pistoia and Montecatini will be suspended. Where possible, a rescheduling of the service is planned with bus trips, via the A11 motorway, which do not include the Serravalle Pistoiese stop.
Also in relation to traffic, there could be an increase in travel times and a decrease in available seats compared to the normal service offered.
Bike transportation is not permitted on buses, and animals are not permitted on buses, except guide dogs. Trenitalia’s purchasing channels are updated with the extraordinary train and bus schedule.
