A historic day for Piacenza. Around 30 thousand people were expected in the streets and squares of the city for the start of the third stage of the Tour de France. An event of international scope that will revolutionize everyone’s daily life. For this reason, the Territorial Emergency 118 of Piacenza has also prepared an action plan which aims to adapt the health response to the significant increase in the population, guaranteeing the daily functioning of the First Aid and Territorial Emergency activities.

The healthcare activities scheduled during the day in the various company offices have been remodeled with the aim of guaranteeing urgent and non-deferrable services and anticipating or postponing scheduled visits and tests, so as not to create inconvenience for users. On the Piacenza Local Health Authority website there are all the details of the changes in opening times and openings. Technical activities related to safety and administrative support of healthcare activities carried out during the day are also guaranteed.

An increase in staff is planned in the Emergency Department and in the Assistance and Emergency Center (Cau). No suspension of services is planned for the Casa della Salute e della Comunità di San Nicolò (Rottofreno). No suspension of services is planned for the hospital of Castel San Giovanni, except for blood sampling.

Anpas and Red Cross: 200 health workers and volunteers at work

Throughout the day today, Monday 1st July, in the area affected by the event, especially in the Tour village and in the streets of the historic center, approximately 200 health workers and logistics operators deployed by the Local Health Authority, Anpas are employed and Red Cross. 15 teams of rescuers on foot are involved in the field, made up of 2 operators each who will take care of assisting both the public at the event and the people who live along the tour’s city route; 8 dedicated emergency ambulances distributed along the event route, at strategic points at the event, 6 ambulances in the downtown area and 2 along the Via Emilia in San Nicolò and Castel San Giovanni; 1 self-nursing.

Advanced medical point

Next to the Tour de France village, in the Arsenale area, an advanced medical station has been set up, with a medical team made up of 118 nurses, a 118 driver-rescuer and a 118 doctor. In addition to the medical team, there will be at least 4 rescue workers in support, who will also be instructed to monitor the village area. The activities will be coordinated by the urgent intra-hospital transport center of Piacenza.

The presence of an itinerant nurse contact person is also foreseen who, together with the driver, could be hired for any medical emergency events in areas where it is difficult to reach. The commitment of Anpas and the Red Cross is also strong, making their resources and volunteers available to guarantee maximum protection and surveillance for citizens.
