Mazara, the 2024 bathing season begins. Yachtsmen and a beach resort fined

Last weekend marked the start of the 2024 bathing season in Mazara del Vallo, accompanied by the start of control and surveillance operations conducted by the Port Authority. These activities, which will last until September, are part of the national operation “Sea and Safe Lakes 2024” and are aimed at ensuring the safety of bathers and boaters, as well as preventing violations of the Bathing Safety Ordinance, the Recreational Boating Code and the regulations on the protection of public property and the marine and coastal environment.

During the weekend of June 29 and 30, fines were already issued to several boaters who were sailing their boats in the area of the sea reserved for bathing, in violation of the Bathing Safety Ordinance. In addition, a fine was issued against a beach establishment that did not have a lifeguard service, which is essential to ensure the safety of bathers.

These sanctions were necessary due to behaviors that were in contrast with the provisions of the Mazara del Vallo Maritime Authority, despite the numerous meetings held in May with the concessionaires of the beach establishments and the associations of boaters. These meetings had the objective of raising awareness among sea users to respect the bathing regulations, also providing information on first aid equipment and on the organization of the rescue service to ensure greater safety.

As for boaters, attention has been placed on respecting the minimum distances from the coast for navigation and stopping, in order to promote peaceful and safe coexistence between swimmers and boats.

The Port Authority of Mazara del Vallo continues its commitment to ensure that bathing and recreational activities are carried out in complete safety, while protecting the coast and its natural resources.
