In Reggio Calabria a warehouse on fire, the structure collapsed and 40 neighboring families evacuated as a precaution
Fire brigade teams of the Command Reggio Calabria they have been busy since approximately 12.10 pm today, June 30, 2024, in via Spirito Santo, in the southern area of the metropolitan city, for a fire in a warehouse of approximately 200 m2 with a metal load-bearing structure, insulated panel walls and sheet metal roofing.
The shed was used as a storage facility for various types of electrical material.
Teams from the headquarters, detachments from Villa San Giovanni and Melito were involved in the fire-fighting operations with the support of water tankers, self-protection vehicles and a rescue officer to coordinate the operations for a total of 9 vehicles and 25 units. I will keep watcho.

The high temperatures and thick smoke caused by the combustion also damaged the external facades of some buildings located nearby, making it necessary to evacuate 40 families as a precaution.
The intervention of the firefighters helped contain the fire, preventing the flames from spreading to nearby homes. The situation is currently under control, efforts are being made to extinguish the last outbreaks and to make the site safe.
No injuries to people were reported. Investigations are underway into the origin of the fire, at the moment no hypothesis is excluded.
