“After years of abandonment and neglect on the part of centre-right administrations, after the motion three years ago by the majority that administered the municipality of Anziowith the proposal to request the inclusion of the area in the UNESCO heritage, just talk without any concrete action, after a management that is nothing short of scandalous of the beach below the Neronian villa, the Lazio Region establishes the Natural Monument “Nero’s Villa and Caves”, whose management and maintenance will be entrusted to the Parco dei Castelli, as already happened for Tor Caldara. We hope this is positive news for the city of Anzio, which will be able to see one of its important natural, cultural and historical assets protected.
We are perplexed to read criticisms of the fact that the management will be entrusted to the Parco dei Castelli, when for decades the administrations have not been able to preserve and protect the area, moreover the process for the natural monument had already started under the regional government of the center-left, which had approved it unanimously but then not financed it.
Instead, we thank our regional councilors who worked hard to achieve this victory for all the citizens of Anzio.”
