On Saturday 29 June Passaggi Festival will turn on the big screen in Piazza XX Settembre to be able to follow the Switzerland-Italy football match scheduled for 6pm live.
Philosophy and history, personal well-being and artificial intelligence, economics, politics, science, graphic novels, essays for the little ones: it will be a day full of events that Sunday, June 30th in Fano (PU) the twelfth edition of Passaggi Festival will close. The art exhibitions and workshops for children will continue, as will the book presentations by the sea at aperitif time (Fosso Sejore), the meetings with the author in the festival bookshop and the guided tours to discover the area. On the central stage in Piazza XX Settembre the awarding of the plaque for the “Elisa Mascarucci” dedicated to the best children’s workshop, the recognition “A long commitment” to the volunteers of the festival and the award ceremony of the competition ‘The Passaggi shop windows‘ which involved the city’s shops. In closing, the traditional ‘night talk’ of the festival with Rita Cucchiara international AI expert, who will reflect on the 2024 theme ‘Error and artifice’. Guests include: Ludovico Tersigni, Nico Acampora, Marco Fioravanti, Giusella Finocchiaro, Armando Massarenti, Mario Natangelo, Carlo Vecce. All events are free (with the exception of guided tours).
The afternoon starts with book presentations, workshops, wellness practices, scientific aperitifs
We begin the afternoon with workshops for children (aged 6 to 10) organized by Francesco Tenaglia and the guys from Frolla Microbiscottificio who propose the fun creative activity “In the kitchen with Frolla” (Pincio, 5.45 pm). The guided tour with Manuela Palmucci, a qualified tourist guide, was interesting, discovering the fascinating history of the Contrada San Marco, a popular neighborhood on the edge of the walled city where the inhabitants gradually settled around the church and the rectory (reservations required at number 346.6701612 – cost 10 euros).
For the review “Wellness Practices” the appointment, organized by the cultural association Meditamondo, is at 6.30 pm at Bastione Sangallo with a meditation to discover our sensory system led by Simonetta Jivan Vincenzi. The event introduces the presentation of the book by Selene Calloni Williams (7.30 pm), writer and documentary maker “Imaginal fasting. 9 days to find harmony and well-being with food” (Piemme). The author will talk with the journalist Luciano Murgia.
We move to Bagni Elsa (Fosso Sejore) for the exhibition “Outside Passages aMare”: Anthony Bacchus (6.30 pm), writer, musician and blogger will present “Quadrophenia. The Who and the history of the album and the film that defined a genre” (Edizioni Interno 4), in dialogue with Luca Valentini, music critic and DJ. A book that faithfully retraces the sources of inspiration and the tormented gestation of the work.
Julia Bonacucinaprofessor at the School of Medicine and Health Products of the University of Camerino, will propose an interesting reflection on drugs and their use within the initiative “I took a medicine: did I do it wrong?” (L’Uccellin Bel Verde tea room, at 6.30 pm). The event, within the exhibition “Glasses of Science”, includes LIS interpretation in collaboration with Ens (National Deaf Organization) of Pesaro Urbino and thanks to the support of Dago Elettronica. With an aperitif offered to participants.
From non-fiction for children to philosophy, within Passaggi’s books there are many opportunities to grow
For the review “Little Essays. Nonfiction to grow up”, Annalisa Streetauthor of the book “The butterfly girl. Maria Sibylla Merian tells her story” (Editoriale Scienza), illustrates to the little ones the incredible life of a great artist, scientist, adventurer and pioneer of ecology who lived between the 17th and 18th centuries. The author talks with Valeria Patregnani, head of the Fano Library System (Mediateca Montanari – 6.30 pm). Ecology and environment also at the center of the meeting with Mark Fioravantimayor of Ascoli Piceno, author of “We are the environment. For an ecological revolution of the environment” (Baldini+Castoldi), a political manifesto that proposes a cultural change, in terms of awareness and responsibility. The author talks with the journalist Ciro Montanari (Chiostro ex Convento delle Benedettine – 6:30 pm).
Giusella Finocchiaroprofessor of Private Law and Internet and social media law, questions the future and new technologies in the book “Artificial intelligence. What rules?” (Il Mulino) in dialogue with Leonardo Acquafondata, expert in digital privacy (former Church of San Francesco, 6:30 pm). For the review “The philosopher’s sandals”, Armando Massarenti cultural journalist and philosopher of science, presents “How We Became Stupid: An Immodest Proposal to Become Smart Again” (Guerini e Associati) a contribution on the changes in critical thinking in recent decades between social and political correctness. The author talks with Carolina Iacucci, literary critic and Giovanni Belfiori, journalist and director of Passaggi Festival (Chiostro ex Convento delle Benedettine – 7:30 pm).
The value of history and the magic of graphic novels. Award ceremony of the ‘A reading among the clouds’ competition
We go down in history with the text “The Master of Elegance” (Baldini + Castoldi) on the entrepreneur from the Marche region in the clothing sector, Torello Latini, whose life inexorably intersects with the events linked to the Nazi-Fascist period in Italy and whose memory is brought to light thanks to the work of Gianluca Conti. The author will discuss it with Nando dalla Chiesa, sociologist, president of the Scientific Committee of Passaggi Festival, and Giorgia Latini, deputy and vice-president of the Culture, Science and Education Commission of the Chamber of Deputies (former Church of San Francesco – 7.30 pm).
At the Montanari Media Library, meetings await us with the authors of “Passages between the clouds” who will dialogue with comic book critics Virginia Tonfoni and Alessio Trabacchini. Andrea Ferraris (7.30 pm), illustrator and cartoonist, will present “Storm” (Oblomov Editions). A warm nostalgia accompanies the thirteen chapters of the work, thirteen stories of friendship, of boys who become adults in a small province. The author will talk with Virginia Tonfoni, comics critic. This will be followed, at 9.30pm, by the award ceremony for the “Una Lettura fra le Nuvole” competition created in collaboration with “La Lettura”, the cultural weekly of Corriere della Sera. Lara Ineschiaka Lara Aayna, young illustrator from Caorle, winner with her short graphic novel, entitled “The photo” will be awarded by Mara Cerri, illustrator and president of the Jury, Jessica Chia, journalist from Corriere della Sera, Giovanni Di Bari, curator of the Exhibition and Giovanni Gasparini, from the Renco group. The review will close with Mario Natangelo (10.00 pm) and his “Ash. Notes of mourning” (Rizzoli) comic that intertwines the story with fragments of a personal mourning and events related to the author’s working life, transforming pain into poetry. As a preview of the event, Mario Natangelo will meet readers in the festival’s bookshop space (Giardini Amiani, at 7:00 p.m.).
Passaggi Festival final day: events in Piazza XX Settembre
In Piazza XX Settembre the events will begin at 9.00 pm with the presentation of the award ‘A long commitment‘ to Passaggi Festival volunteers, the awarding of the plaque for the Award “Elisa Mascarucci“dedicated to the memory of the young girl from Fano for the best children’s workshop and the award ceremony of the competition”The shop windows of Passaggi‘ organized in collaboration with Confcommercio and Confesercenti of Fano which involved numerous shops in the city in setting up themed shop windows with the festival. The program will continue with one change: Alessandra Mussolini will not be able to be present at the festival for family reasons. She will go up on the central stage in Piazza XX Settembre at 9.30pm Nico Acampora (first expected at the Pincio) educator and founder of the PizzAut project and co-author together with Elisabetta Soglio of “Don’t Trample on Dreams. The Extraordinary Story of PizzAut and His Boys” (Solferino). The author will converse with the journalist Paolo Notari. The meeting includes LIS interpreting.
The latest meetings of the thematic reviews on art and economics with Carlo Vecce and Francesco Tundo
The review “Art, a story for everyone” will end with the academician of the Lincei Charles Veccewho will tell us about the genius of Vinci in the text “Leonardo, life. The boy from Vinci, the universal man, the wanderer” (Giunti) a complete biography, based on the most up-to-date research and full of new details. The author will talk with Marta Paraventi, art historian (former Church of San Francesco – 9.30 pm). To close this edition of “Fuori Passaggi Music & Social” will be the actor and presenter Ludovico Tersigni (Pincio, 10.30 pm) who will present his first novel to the public of Fano “See you beyond the horizon” (Rizzoli) in dialogue with the music promoter Ivana Stjepanovic. A book about what moves the traveler: not only the need to explore new geographical frontiers but above all that of maturing a new inner consciousness. The unmissable and eagerly awaited final meeting of the festival will say goodbye to the audience of Passaggi and say goodbye to 2025: in Piazza XX Settembre he will take the stage Rita Cucchiara (10.30 pm) Professor of Computer Engineering and international AI expert for the final ‘night speech’ on the theme 2024 “The Error and the Artifice”. The event will make use of LIS interpreting.
