Woke up in the middle of the night to an arson attack in their premises. A rude awakening that of Emanuele Busiello e Federico Strazzullo27-year-old owners of “Come on, Koce”, the rotisserie at number 182 in via delle Republiche Marinare damaged by an arson raid on the night between Thursday and Friday.

An episode that turns the spotlight back on the security emergency at the border between the neighborhoods Barra and San Giovanni a Teduccio, as underlined by Gianni Forte, the entrepreneur who – victim of several robberies starting last autumn – denounced crime with a march for legality together with institutions and associations: «We are in the grip of delinquency – he says – after what happened to my betting centers in recent months, these acts of vandalism continue. In the’fire which almost devastated the place opened in April by two good guys, a Caf was also involved. Also yesterday morning the post office nearby was robbed. The alarm is not over and we do not feel safe.”

The young entrepreneur couple reported what happened on June 28 to the Barra Carabinieri station, after calling the firefighters to put out the flames both outside and inside the premises. The raid was not caused by any extortionate demands or threats of any kind, as Busiello, who personally filed the complaint, told the men of the Arma.

The investigation

The 27-year-old was alerted around 2.30 am two days ago by a security company operating in the area. “After that – he explained to the police – I proceeded to inform the firefighters who, when they arrived on site, spoke of the fire’s malicious origin”. In fact, at the site of the fire, firefighters found flammable liquid, presumably petrol, both inside and outside the business. Now Emanuele and Federico the damage counts, which although still to be quantified, is huge: «Since the motors of the shutters had also burned out, we had to call a locksmith – they explain – to be able to close the shop. We are not covered by insurance and we have no suspicions about anyone.”

One possibility to trace those responsible could come from the nearby betting center in Via delle Republiche Marinare, where there is a video surveillance system that would have recorded the incident. From the first images examined, we can see a man parking a dark-colored scooter not far from the rotisserie. From the cameras it then emerges that the same individual, arriving in front of “Come Koce”, pours some petrol at the level of the shutter, to finally escape towards Corso IV Novembre. «We are disappointed and also saddened because a tragedy was almost reached, given that the flames could also involve the nearby apartments and businesses. Now we are trying to estimate the damage to understand when we will be able to reopen”, the two entrepreneurs say.
