All the results of the matchday Absolute Championships Of La Spezia 2024 of athletics, the first of two days packed with competitions, which see the big names of Italian athletics compete for the national title. Among the many exciting results, there are also some negative notes such as the physical problems suffered by Dario Dester and Elena Vallortigara. ATHLETICS, LA SPEZIA 2024 OVERALLS: FINAL RESULTS
The men’s 100m race saw the victory of Matthew Melluzzo, who certified the personal best in 10″12, the same time as the “ghost” race at the last European Championships in Rome: for the class of 2002 the Italian title arrives ahead of Samuele Ceccarelli (10″21) and Eric Marek (10″27) . In the women’s race, confirmation for Zaynab Dosso who “manages” and finishes in 11″20, ahead of the excellent Arianna De Masi (11″28) and Chiara Melon (11″49, season record). The women’s 5 thousand meters race saw the triumph of the champion Nadia Battocletti, who finished in 15’24″69, ahead of Elisa Palmero (15’35″68, personal best) and Micol Majori (15’37″91) . In the men’s race, which closed the day of individual competitions, the winner was Pietro Arese after an intense duel with Pietro Riva. The athlete of the yellow flames won in 13’35″97, which is worth the new personal best, while Riva finished in 13’40″31; Jacopo De Marchi completed the podium in 13’44″25.
Andrea Dallavalle he is Italian champion in the triple jump with a measurement of 16.77 metres, ahead of Tobia Bocchi in 16.37 and Gabriele Tosti in 15.73. The pole vault sees the triumph of Elena Brownwho enters the race at 4.25 meters and makes no mistakes until 4.55, which will remain the final measurement given the errors at 4.65. Behind her are Sonia Malavisi at 4.40 and Maria Roberta Gherca at 4.25, the same measurement as Elisa Molinarolo (but with one error). In the women’s 100 hurdles, Jade Carmassi signed the personal best in 12″87 that earned her the Italian title. Completing the podium, Elisa Maria Di Lazzaro (13″02) and Veronica Besana (13″08). In the women’s high jump, she shines Pieroni ideawho closes in 1.88 with a perfect race up to this measure, before the errors at 1.91 and 1.92 at the end of the race. In second place, in fact, Asia Tavernini (1.88 but with two total errors), while Giulia De Marchi closes the podium with 1.85 meters jumped. Two errors at 1.79 and then the withdrawal for Elena Vallortigara, who suffered physical problems.
In the men’s javelin throw, Simone Comini started off strong with a measurement of 74.38 on his first throw, but then had to “settle” for third place after throwing 75.40 on his penultimate attempt. John Frattiniwho is therefore Italian champion, and the 74.53 meters reached by Roberto Orlando at the last attempt. Eighth title of Italian champion in the hammer throw for Marco Linguawho thanks to the 69.66 obtained in the last rotation takes the first place overtaking Giorgio Olivieri. Behind the 46 year old from Chivasso closes Olivieri (69.62), while Davide Costa completes the podium on the third step (69.33).
In women’s discus throw delude Daisy Osakue: the reigning Italian champion abdicates in the worst possible way, with three invalids in as many throws that are worth her elimination. The 2002 class wins the national title Emily Contewhich closes with the measurement of 56.82, achieved on the first launch, preceding Stefania Strumillo (56.65) and Elena Varriale, who sets the new personal best in 53.33.

In the women’s javelin, Emanuela Casadei wins the title of Italian champion thanks to the measurement of 56.49, a new personal best, ahead of Adjimon Pascaline Adanhoegbe (54.07) and Paola Padovan (53.74).
ATHLETICS, LA SPEZIA 2024 ABSOLUTE: HEAT RESULTS
The morning opens with the races of decathlon ed heptathlon. Among the men, Dario Dester wins the 100 meter race in 10″96 ahead of Lorenzo Mellano (11″18) and also precedes him in the long jump (7.24 and 7.20 respectively), where the best is Andrea Cerrato with 7.26. Dester did an encore in the shot put with 13.44, while the elimination and consequent 0 points in the high jump did not allow him to come close to the score of the European Championships in Rome, when he set the new Italian record. Furthermore, Dester was stopped by an Achilles tendon problem, and did not take part in the 400 meter race. Lorenzo Modugno wins the high jump in 2.08, ahead of Nicola Paletti (2.02) and Simon Zandarco (1.90), while Cerrato also wins the 400 meter event. The classification at mid-race, therefore, sees Cerrato in the lead with 3929 points, ahead of Mellano with 3709 points and Zandarco with 3684 points.
In the heptathlon Marta Giaele Giovannini achieved a personal best in the 100 hurdles in 14.12, followed by Alice Lunardon and Elisa Tosetto. In the high jump, Eleonora Favaretto excels, the only one to exceed 1.74. Sara Chiaratti and Scilla Benussi stop at 1.71 instead. The shot put test goes to Chiaratti with 13.15, ahead of Giovannini (12.46) and Benussi (12.31). The 200 meters saw Giovannini still prevail in 25″25, ahead of Favaretto in 25″49 and Francesca Paolin in 25″68. Giovannini, therefore, leads the ranking with 3312 points, preceding Chiaratti (3244) and Lunardon (3177).
Among the other heats, few surprises, with all the big names gaining access to their respective finals. A few thrills for Linda Olivieri, who in the 400 hurdles competed sub iudice after an initial exclusion for a false start (later revised), then passing with the second time behind Folorunso. In the men’s event, Sibilio and Lambrughi made it to the final. Mangione in the women’s 400 final, while Aceti, Scotti, Benati and Re hit the target in the men’s race.
