RESULTS Athletics, Overall La Spezia 2024: the first day

ATHLETICS, LA SPEZIA 2024 ABSOLUTE: HEAT RESULTS

The morning opens with the races of decathlon ed heptathlon. Among the men, Dario Dester wins the 100 meter race in 10″96 ahead of Lorenzo Mellano (11″18) and also precedes him in the long jump (7.24 and 7.20 respectively), where the best is Andrea Cerrato with 7.26. Lorenzo Modugno wins the high jump in 2.08, ahead of Nicola Paletti (2.02) and Simon Zandarco (1.90), while Cerrato also wins the 400 meter event. The classification at mid-race, therefore, sees Cerrato in the lead with 3929 points, ahead of Mellano with 3709 points and Zandarco with 3684 points.

In the heptathlon Marta Giaele Giovannini achieved a personal best in the 100 hurdles in 14.12, followed by Alice Lunardon and Elisa Tosetto. In the high jump, Eleonora Favaretto excels, the only one to exceed 1.74. Sara Chiaratti and Scilla Benussi stop at 1.71 instead. The shot put test goes to Chiaratti with 13.15, ahead of Giovannini (12.46) and Benussi (12.31). The 200 meters saw Giovannini still prevail in 25″25, ahead of Favaretto in 25″49 and Francesca Paolin in 25″68. Giovannini, therefore, leads the ranking with 3312 points, preceding Chiaratti (3244) and Lunardon (3177).

Among the other heats, few surprises, with all the big names gaining access to their respective finals. A few thrills for Linda Olivieri, who in the 400 hurdles competed sub iudice after an initial exclusion for a false start (later revised), then passing with the second time behind Folorunso.
