PALERMO – One night of waste fires in Palermo and its province that of yesterday. The last night they intervened Fire fighters per put out the flames in the piles of waste stacked near the bins overflowing and not emptied.
Garbage fires
The fires broke out in various streets of the Sicilian capital: in via della Conciliazionein via Filippo Paladiniin via Giuseppe Cammarano, via Luigi Einaudi. Piles of garbage on fire also at Villabate via Matteotti and to Bagheria in via Dante.
No dioxin alarm after the fire at the Bellolampo landfill
During the night between 17th and 18th June a fire broke out inside the Bellolampo landfill in Palermo. This time, no dioxin alarm after the fire.
The recorded data from Arpa Sicilia after sampling both close to the plant and in more distant areas they gave very low values of presence of dioxins and furans in the air.
Good news regarding the data, which remained abundantly below the danger level, i.e. when it exceeds 300 fg per cubic meter. In one location the level is 23 in a second 44. Other values had been recorded in the fire of July 24th of the last year. Then the control units had registered one dioxin concentration equal to 939 TE.
