The Nautical Institute “Marino Torre” of Trapani celebrated a touching and meaningful moment: the delivery of a diploma in memory of the mother of Alessandro Via, a student who died prematurely last school year.
“The initiative was born on the last day of school, – explains the vice principal of the Vincenza Genco Institute -, when the school and class representatives organized a moment of conviviality and sharing in preparation for the state exams. A classmate of Alessandro, Pietro Licata, wrote an open letter to the entire school community, thanking teachers and classmates for the shared journey and remembering his friend who passed away.
Pietro wanted to emphasize how Alessandro would ideally be present during the exam tests, obtaining the diploma through his classmates. These words deeply moved the school community, so much so that the examination commission decided to make Pietro’s proposal their own, awarding Alessandro a diploma of the heart”.
Alessandro’s mother was summoned to the institute’s main hall to receive the diploma from the President of the examination commission, Sanfilippo Liliana. Together with her, Alessandro Via’s grandmother and her sister, surrounded by her affection, Alessandro’s teachers, classmates and friends.
“With the loss of a friend,” the certificate reads, “love never dies or disappears. It simply changes channels, so to speak, and shifts to a wavelength that we cannot hear and touch and see with our own eyes.”
An eternal memory
Serena, the classmate, wrote a touching letter read before the diploma was delivered
“Hello Ale. We finally made it that fateful day finally arrived, they were days full of tears, continuous tensions, full of overwhelming feelings that were difficult to keep at bay, in reality it’s been like this for a while, especially since you left.
LYour absence has been hard to accept and I still haven’t been able to.
There are days when it seems that time stands still and the noises fade even if I’m in a room full of people, when I find myself alone with my other thoughts where instead I still feel you here and I perceive you when the warmth of the sun wakes me up in the morning, when I get lost looking at the sunset, when looking at the ground I see a little heart in the spatula or when I have beautiful days full of fun and I know that there is your hand in them too.
I swear to you my friend, I promise to be a little stronger every day for you, because this is what you would have wanted… I hope that each of us in our own little way has made you proud of the goal we have achieved… Greetings my friend, always caress my dreams, continue to live in my thoughts and in my memories… always.”
