Until September 1st staff belonging to the sports groups of the State Police -Fiamme Oro and the staff of the Lecce Police Headquartersequipped with a lifeguard certificate, will provide lifeguard services to disabled people on the beach San Foca lido La Terrazza «Everyone to the sea“. Tomorrow at the beach theinauguration of the bathing season with the flag-raising ceremony and the official start of activities. The event will see the participation of guests, institutional representatives, volunteers, staff and all the friends of the Association «Io posso».

Also this year, in fact, the memorandum of understanding was signed with which the collaboration between the Ministry of the Interior – Department of Public Security and the 2HE-Center For Human Health and Environment Association was renewed.

The project started in 2017 from an idea of ​​the assistant chief of the State Police Gaetano Fuso, suffering from a serious disabling disease that had forced him into a wheelchair who, together with his wife Giorgia Rollo, decided to create a bathing facility equipped with all the aids necessary for safe and free entry to the sea through a stretch of beach accessible to bathers with even serious disabilities. Inside the shaded stations, in addition to the social health care staff and adequately trained lifeguards, all the free services of the format will be available: bathing aids, lift, back-up electromedical devices, toilets, also with shower and hot water, as well as different types of chairs, to meet the various needs of users.
