During yesterday evening, the Vicenza Police Headquarters carried out a targeted security check in Vicenza, in the most sensitive areas of the city, with the help of the crews of the Crime Prevention Department of Padua.
The areas affected by the checks
Security monitoring in Vicenza concerned, in particular, the area of Campo Marzo, Piazzale Bologna, Viale Milano and the area of the SVT station, Corso Santi Felice and Fortunato.
During the activity, specific investigations were carried out on certain situations of degradation reported by the Municipality of Vicenza and by some residents in the areas indicated above.
We also found some reports from some condominium administrators who predicted the presence of suspicious situations inside some apartments.
The other interventions in businesses and homes
Finally, following reports from the Municipality of Vicenza, two commercial activities in the area of Corso Santi Felice e Fortunato were checked. The outcome is currently being examined by the Administrative Police Division of the Vicenza Police Headquarters, in agreement with the competent municipal offices.
A woman involved in prostitution was found inside an apartment – following a tip-off. The same, subjected to a document check, highlighted irregularities regarding her stay on the national territory. The woman (of Peruvian origin) was accompanied to the Police Headquarters, at the disposal of the Immigration Office, for the initiation of expulsion procedures.
An Italian citizen subjected to the precautionary measure of the obligation to reside in Valdagno was found in Campo Marzo: a measure which he had evidently violated by going to Vicenza. He was therefore accompanied to the Police Headquarters for communications to the Judicial Authority regarding the worsening of the measure in place.
Overall, more than 100 people were checked.
