CATANIA – A 39-year-old Colombian stabbed his 29-year-old brother last night in Catania and was arrested by the Carabinieri for attempted murder. The reasons for the wounding are still being examined by investigators. The investigating judge has validated the arrest and ordered his detention in the Piazza Lanza prison. The alarm was raised by the owner of a fast food restaurant in front of which the victim stopped, calling 112. The 29-year-old, with several stab wounds to his neck and ongoing bleeding, was taken by ambulance to the emergency room of the Garibaldi Centro hospital. The man is not in danger of life.
Although in a state of shock, the injured man in the ambulance managed to give investigators the name of his brother. The carabinieri traced the brothers’ home, in the Fortino area, where they found traces of blood, which led investigators to assume that the stabbing had most likely occurred right there and that the injured young man had subsequently moved on foot and bleeding to the nearest commercial activity open in the middle of the night, where he could ask for help. The victim’s brother was not present at the time but was stopped in the afternoon while he was returning home with a bandaged hand to cover a cut wound. In the house, the military found and seized two knives still stained with blood.
