LIVORNO. They were all sent to trial for robbery. That against a journalist from the Tyrrhenian Seawho just over three years ago while he was documenting a demonstration of the so-called “People of the boats” in front of the headquarters of the Port System Authority, on the Rosciano ports, was attacked and deprived of his cell phone.
It all happened around 3:00 p.m. on February 10, 2021 during a protest by the association for the protection and preservation of maritime traditions and the Medici port, when the reporter was surrounded and threatened by a person who pretended to be a policeman and by others who took his cell phone from his hands. The defendants – defended by the lawyer Luca Di Rosa – I am the fifty-seven year old president of the Borgo club at the time of the events Peter Damian (a native of Portoferraio, on the island of Elba, but resident in Livorno and the only person under investigation also for impersonation, because he allegedly declared himself to be an agent), the seventy-three-year-old from Livorno Paola Turiothe sixty-five year old from Livorno Roberto Lippithe sixty-year-old Lily Panther (resident of Casciana Terme, in the province of Pisa, but originally from Massa), the sixty-two year old from Livorno Richard Christians and his 74 year old fellow citizen Paolo Ponzali.
Trial had also been requested for all of them for private violence, at the time a crime that could be prosecuted ex officio: now, after changes in the law, it is no longer so and the victim – who has taken the form of a civil party assisted by a lawyer Bruno Neri – did not file a complaint and therefore the judge of the preliminary hearing, Marco Sacquegna, yesterday declared solely on this issue that there was no need to proceed. Damiani – according to the accusation – also “threatened to throw the journalist into the sea”. The opening of the hearing is scheduled for November. «We take note of the admission of civil action, a necessary act in the face of no acceptable conciliatory proposal from the current defendants», the words of the lawyer Neri, who is assisting the journalist who was the victim of the attack on the Rosciano airports.
