The images from the surveillance cameras are therefore added to those that were left on the student’s killer’s phone: there are images of Giulia trying on clothes, of the girl sitting at the bar and also some selfies taken by Filippo in which the two are together. A few hours after those photos, Turetta brutally killed his ex, tried to hide the body and fled to Germany, where he was later arrested.

The accusation of premeditation

The adhesive tape bought a few days before the crime, explained with the need “to attach Giulia’s graduation papyrus”. The two kitchen knives in a pocket of the car, but motivated by the fact that he, Filippo, had had “suicidal thoughts”. These are two of the elements, for the Prosecutor’s Office, to support the hypothesis of premeditation in the femicide of Giulia Cecchettin, on which Filippo Turetta was called to answer at length in the interrogation given in prison on December 1st to the prosecutor of the Venice Prosecutor’s Office Andrea Petroni. And which, in the event of a trial, are likely to become the ground on which the defense will have to demonstrate that, instead, the student from Torreglia had not planned the murder.

“They were kitchen knives taken from my house – we read among the answers given by Turetta to the prosecutor – during that week, a few days before – the crime, ed. – Wednesday, or Thursday. I had put them in the car because I had suicidal thoughts; I feared they were there to use them, if I wanted to carry out my intentions”. Then the scotch tape: “this is the adhesive tape that I would have used for Giulia’s graduation party, to attach the papyrus” Filippo replies, when during the interrogation they ask him, showing him a photo, about the piece of scotch tape with traces of hair and blood recovered by the Carabinieri after the massacre in the industrial area of Fossò. Turetta also had a third knife, the only one found on the Fiat Punto at the time of his arrest in Germany, purchased by Filippo in a shop in Berlin, during the escape, paid in cash.
