2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development: Basilicata brings up the rear

“Together with Calabria, Basilicata is at the bottom of the list in terms of achieving the objectives of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development”. This is what the regional councillor of the Democratic Party claims, Piero Lacorazza. “It does not yet have a Plan that shows the way to achieve the objectives of the UN 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, despite it being cited as a reference in the 2021/2027 ERDF FSE + program. A fundamental tool, even more so for the delays measured by our Region that emerged both in the 2023 ASviS Report on the territories, and in the BES (Equitable and Sustainable Well-being) indicators brought out by Istat. The truth – adds Lacorazza – is that the theme of ‘sustainability’, as well as that of the ecological transition, enters the debates and press releases, but not in the choices that concern the future of Basilicata. The resources, huge and extraordinary, that represent a fundamental opportunity for development identify the ecological transition as a fundamental asset. But we are not there. And we risk putting water in a leaky bucket without having Plans and programs that allow for an effective grounding of resources. It is also the case to say that the delays in the formation of the Executive and for the full functionality of the Regional Council, postpone another fundamental instrument to better channel the programming: there is a very clear timing provided by art. 45 of the Regional Statute for the Regional Strategic Plan. It is late, President Bardi”, concludes Lacorazza.
