The municipal police and the financial police group of Pisa conducted a joint operation to combat illegal commercial activity in the monumental area of the Cathedral.

The operation involved 8 patrols between municipal police and financial police, who carried out checks in the sensitive areas of the Duomo area in the monumental area that extends from via Cardinale Maffi to largo Cocco Griffi. During the checks, 1,654 objects were seized, put up for sale by individuals presumably without a license for itinerant sales in public areas and in any case in prohibited areas.

“The intervention – explains Mayor Michele Conti – underlines the importance of collaboration between the different police forces: the synergy between the Municipal Police and the Guardia di Finanza Group is fundamental to effectively combat illegal activity and other forms of economic illegality. These joint interventions are essential to protect a healthy economy and consumer rights and will also be extended to other areas”.

Yesterday’s joint operation is an example of how collaboration between different law enforcement agencies can lead to results in the fight against illegality. The municipal police and the financial police will continue to monitor the territory and plan targeted interventions to combat illegal commercial activity and protect the community.
