It is the most original cooking competition in Italy: the ones challenging each other with pots, pans and spoons are not the chefs but the mayors of Puglia and other Italian regions That July 8th they will meet at Biscèglie for the ninth edition Of “Mayors, get to the stove!”. The venue for the culinary challenge will be“Mediterranean” amphitheater (Lungomare Umberto Paternostro) which, for the occasion, will become a large open-air kitchen.
Ten first citizensdivided into teams, will give life to an original and exciting cooking competition under the supervision of important chefs from all over Puglia. In half an hour they will have the task of preparing a dish using only the ingredients made available by the organization, following the suggestions of the chef tutors paired with them. Among the protagonists of the 2024 edition there will be the new mayor of Bari, Vito Leccese. With him also the owner of the house, the mayor of Bisceglie Angelantonio Angaranoand then, as per tradition, also mayors from outside the region, such as the mayor of Casacalenda, Sabrina Lallitto.
Accompanying the mayors during the competition was a “dream team” of chefs, including the starred chef Domingo Schingaro of the restaurant “Due Camini” in Borgo Egnazia – Savelletri di Fasano and Peter Zito of “Ancient Flavours”.
The event, sponsored by the Municipality of Bisceglie, the cultural association La Compagnia della lunga tavola, Mordi la Puglia and the Italian Academy of Historical Gastronomy and Gastrosophy, is supported by Supermarkets Dok and Famila, Gioiella, MaisonFood, Casillo and Pasta Maffei. The event, conceived by the journalist and gastronome Sandro Romano and organized and produced by the agency Rp Consulting in Bariwill be hosted by one of the most famous and loved faces of Apulian television, Mauro Pulpitsupported by the Radionorba speaker, Claudia Cesaroni. With them, in the role of comic spoiler, Alessio Giannone aka Pinuccio.
