The rehabilitation center
The rehabilitation center, which will be located on the ground floor of the Maglie territorial assistance center (formerly the hospital), will be equipped with cutting-edge equipment at the service of rehabilitation medicine.
The premises will be completely renovated and will house a rehabilitation gym of approximately 100 m2, two medical offices and three rooms dedicated to electromyographic and ultrasound diagnostics, neurocognitive and speech therapy rehabilitation.
New generation and high-tech robotic equipment will be acquired and used, which will allow for an increase in the intensity of treatments and the creation of personalized protocols for the needs of patients, even those with serious and disabling pathologies and motor impairments.

We chose to allocate Mrs. Vita Carrapa’s legacy to a high-tech and robotic district rehabilitation facility because, in perfect compliance with her testamentary provisions, we wanted to provide Maglie and the South Salento with a modern and qualified rehabilitation reference center that will have a impact of notable importance on a vast territory.
This more concrete and visible path was preferred to the idea, although tested, of the possibility that the testamentary bequest could be used in the construction of the South Salento hospital, an infrastructure which, while remaining in the regional planning, as is known, requires well-defined figures larger.
We thus think that the testatrix’s wishes can find tangible satisfaction, because her idea of health protection in a public facility will be realized in her memory and in the memory of her brothers, in her Maglie at the service of fragile and vulnerable patients
