Savona scams
– Since yesterday, Thursday 27 June, an important initiative has started in over 2500 stores in Savona, Genoa and La Spezia, featuring the Carabinieri of the Provincial Command of Genoa and the “Centro Latte Rapallo – Latte Tigullio”, united to raise awareness, through a targeted information campaign, among the local population on the phenomenon of scams against the elderly.
The Rapallo company of the Centrale del Latte d’Italia Group, leader in Liguria in the production of milk and derivatives, is distributing over the next 10 weeks, 400 thousand packs of whole and partially skimmed milk (in 1 liter PET bottles) on which it will be a nice “vignette” applied.
This is the depiction, created by an important local artist, Enrico Macchiavello, of the background of a typical landscape of the Ligurian coast, a policeman who provides useful indications and precious advice to an elderly woman, reassuring her and thus protecting her from the risks of possible scams.
Also on the package is the message: “beware of scams” and the invitation to always call the emergency telephone number 112 in case you have doubts about who shows up at our homes, but not only that.
A message that wants to warn the population about all those scammers who, by phone or in person, on the doorstep or by making an appointment on the street, try to gain the trust of their victims.
The project is part of a broader campaign to prevent and combat the phenomenon of scams targeting the elderly launched by the General Command of the Carabinieri through meetings with citizens at associations, parishes and other meeting places, events, public demonstrations and many others initiatives organized throughout the national territory.
It is positive that the Carabinieri has found common purpose and sensitive collaboration in the “Centro Latte Rapallo – Latte Tigullio”, which has been a partner of many local events for several years to support the culture of legality, sport and healthy eating.
