Grumello, Gorini: “The appeal serves to give security to everyone”

A few hours after the first municipal council meeting of Grumello, where the list of the mayor Maria Maddalena Visigalli won by a single vote, the minority candidate Albino Gorini intervenes on the possibility of an appeal to the TAR to obtain a recount of the ballots: “I am not for the argument, but the appeal serves to give security to everyone, because we need to be sure that the elections have clearly demonstrated the popular will. I believe it is in everyone’s interest to know that by virtue of this will there is a mayor who governs and also a council that carries out its role with full legitimacy.

“I am not worried also because, as already said, I believe that my list Amo Grumello e il suo territorio has won anyway: we go to the council with a full representation in the minority, the result of a doubling of votes; if anything, it is the winning component that should be worried. I do not feel like a “loser” at all because losers do not go to the opposition for one vote less. If I were to win by one vote more, I would make different choices. I have never had the vocation to appear as the King of May also because the Municipality of Grumello needs choices for long-term commitments.”

“Today in Grumello – concludes Gorini – there is a parity that forces whichever party is called upon to administer to deal with the other. In the last few hours we have an example also in Cremona where the need to draw a lesson from the vote was highlighted, that is, involving all parties more and more, otherwise the competition is just a muscular exercise. Those who argue that there is a need for majority mayors at any price do not understand that the population is splitting: with a difference of one vote there is no dualism, but there is only division and abstention will always increase.”
