With a program full of music, shows and meetings, the 2024 edition of the Modena Summer kicks off with the Giardini d’estate, debuting this Saturday at 9 pm with a concert by Joan Osborne, opened by singer-songwriter Ellen River, and numerous events until September in the courtyards of the historic center, in the city parks and in sports centers.
“Buongiorno” is the title of the music and culture festival scheduled every Sunday until July 7 in the garden of the great tenor’s house. “Buongiorno”, from 10 am to 1 pm, will accompany guests on a fascinating musical-convivial journey. This Sunday’s musical program will be dedicated to the opera “Il Cappello di paglia di Firenze” by Nino Rota.
The prestigious Palio delle Regioni event will stop in Modena with the “European Union” International Horse Racing Grand Prix. On this occasion, a “Great hippodrome festival dedicated to the public and children” will be celebrated with free entry. From 5pm free shows, horse activities and gala dinner. The party will be used to raise funds for the APS Tempio Association of Modena for the project dedicated to disabled children of the Rock’n Rulli band.

The Red Night of Maranello is back: the great party dedicated to Ferrari and the passion for motors, this year in its eleventh edition, scheduled for Saturday. In the city, parades of ‘red’ cars, gates opened at Ferrari, extraordinary openings, exhibitions, clowns, dancing fountains and hot air balloon flights.
The Youth Festival returns from June 26th to 30th in Sassuolo, in the swimming pool/school area. The musical calendar includes the alternation on stage of names such as Jonas Blue, BNKR44 and Auroro Borealo, Topic, Nicola Schenetti, Merk and Kremont and Dargen D’Amico with Disco Piano Bar.
Events for the little ones not to be missed at the weekend in Modena and its province
The native Marano sul Panaro Hop Festival is back: the appointment is Friday and Saturday in Piazza Matteotti. As always there will be rivers of beers and handfuls of hops, live music, workshops and tastings, street food. The Grooviers, DJ Passerotto and Rambler and Spaghetti Jensen will take turns on stage over the two days.
At the Mulino delle Coveraie in Montese on Sunday at 6:30 pm, the talented under-35 band from the Arturo Toscanini Foundation of Parma, whose stylistic hallmark is the blending of genres, will perform in a concert with a thousand facets and multiple languages that blend into each other, entitled “Around the world”.
The season of summer events in the courtyard of the Castello di Montegibbio is back again this year, as punctual as every summer: musical and cultural events accompanied by proposals for aperitifs and dinners in the courtyard, with opening times starting at 7 pm. Friday evening is an appointment with live music by Radio Banana, while Saturday is the turn of Toro-Toro Taxi.
Every year the Palaganesi Ciacciai Masters organize the “Sagra del Ciaccio” in the municipality of Palagano. This edition will be held on Saturday and Sunday and the focus of the event will obviously be the local food stands. In addition to the ciaccio, you can taste all the traditional “poor” foods of the area and typical dishes from Modena: chestnut frittellozzi, fried gnocco, crescentine, potato cake.
In Solignano, appointment until Sunday with Musicabirra, which started on Monday 24 June. Rock music and rivers of beer, without forgetting the restaurant’s delicacies, the piadina and tigelle kiosks, a gathering of bikers and inflatables for children. On stage during the event the NSMGA, Stones Cafe, Riff-Raff, Sconfort, Guns Celebration and niente Pretesa will alternate.
