Everything is now ready for the 15th edition of the Taranto Athlete Award, the historic award ceremony for sporting excellence created by Roberto De Lorenzo in honor of the glorious “Athlete of Taranto”, whose remains are kept inside the National Archaeological Museum – MarTa.
To decide the winners for 2024, the jury panel met today, made up of well-known names from Taranto sport and journalism, such as Roberto Orlando, Christian Cesario, Dario Gallitelli, Alessandro Blasi, Franco Villani, Luca Balasco and Roberta Di Gregorio .
The important novelty of this year is undoubtedly the extension of the award beyond the city and regional borders; in fact the event becomes national in scale. The categories chosen have in fact been divided into three sections dedicated separately to the champions of Taranto, those of Puglia and those of Italy who have distinguished themselves in national and international competitions. In addition to the usual ten main awards, the inevitable recognitions have also been assigned to managers, coaches, Paralympic athletes and emerging athletes deserving of praise.
To them will be added the athletes of the sports groups assigned to the various Armed Forces, designated directly by the respective Commands.
The winners of the Taranto Athlete Award 2024 will receive communications directly from the secretariat of the Triumphalia Cultural Association, promoter of the event, through official channels. They will also be presented to the city during a press conference scheduled for August 19, 2024.
The event also boasts further new – and also already consolidated – external collaborations, which will make it extremely exciting and significant.
The award ceremony, sponsored as every year by the Municipality of Taranto, the Province and the Puglia Region, as well as by Sport and Health, Southern Maritime Command and the Navy Petty Officers School, will be held on August 21, 2024 at “Mariscuola”, thanks to the close collaboration with the Taranto Navy.
