POWER – One step forward, two steps back. A few hours after the rumors about the possible synthesis of the centre-right on the formation of the Council, new details bring the planned scheme back into play. The weights between the majority parties, the electoral defeat in Potenza, the ambitions of the individual political forces make the equation not easy but now that a point of balance seemed to have been found, what created new tensions is the assignment of the seat of president of the Regional Council. In fact, on the Roman tables (with the colonels of the parties of the conservative front who met with governor Bardi), it was decided that the presidency of the Regional Council would be assigned to Action and consequently to Marcello Pittella. The choice, however, would not have found the green light from Azione and from Pittella himself who, on the contrary, is aiming for a councillorship. Everything, then, came back into play.
And this is because, if the requests for Action were to be satisfied, it is clear that the presidency of the Council should be assigned to Italia Viva (which at the moment would have the department but with the name of a woman) and consequently the pink quota should reach Brothers of Italy, majority party of the coalition. A choice, that of female representation, which, however, does not convince Meloni’s party which would be ready to indicate a woman only if in addition to the two departments he is also assigned the presidency of the Council. In short, a complicated puzzle to which a further factor of tension is added: that of delegations. The governor’s initial hypothesis of keeping the health delegation attested to the presidency would have been shattered by the timing and the need to change the organization of the offices to create the new budget department.
Hence, the decision to entrust the Health Department to Fratelli d’Italia, and in particular to Cosimo Latronico, the first of those elected in the Matera area and with a long career as a parliamentarian and councilor behind him. With a rotation to the Department of the Environment where Carmine Cicala would go, the first of those elected in the Potentino area in Meloni’s party. Forza Italia, however, should go to another important department: that of Productive Activities where – according to rumors – Francesco Cupparo, former councilor of the branch in Bardi 1, would return. Agriculture, finally, would fall to the League with Pasquale Pepe. There remains the unknown infrastructure which, at this point, should go to Azione or Italia Viva. To understand it, however, we will have to wait for new meetings, new encounters, new schemes. Unless we continue to take one step forward and two steps back.
