Cagliari, Donegal without peace: after the murder it risks closure

On the evening of 21 June, during the checks carried out by the Cagliari Police Headquarters to monitor the nightlife of the historic center and aimed at preventing and combating the consumption of alcohol by minors, the officers ascertained that inside a room in the Marina district, alcoholic drinks had just been given to some minors.

In fact, the law provides for the prohibition of serving alcohol to minors under 18 years of age. Therefore, anyone who sells or serves alcoholic beverages has the obligation to ask the buyer, at the time of purchase, to show an identity document if the age of majority is not evident.

In light of this episode, as well as other critical issues which had also affected the establishment in question in the recent past, the police commissioner of Cagliari ordered the closure of the public establishment in question for a period of 15 days, with a provision notified on 27 June by the Administrative and Social Police Division of the Police Headquarters.

The temporary closure of the premises was issued in accordance with article 100 of the Consolidated Law on Public Safety, which allows the Police Commissioner to intervene as a precaution to prevent situations of danger to the safety of citizens. Since the beginning of the year, this important measure has been applied by the Police Commissioner of Cagliari to three other premises, one of which is on the Quartese del Poetto coast, and the other two in municipalities of the province.

The temporary closure measure will also be assessed for the Donegal pub in Cagliari, currently under seizure by the judicial authorities following the serious murder that occurred inside it on June 2nd.
