The prefect of Varese Salvatore Pasquariello chaired yesterday at the prefecture a meeting on the safety issues of the road infrastructure reported by the local administrators of the territories affected by traffic on state roads 341, 344 and 344 dir. Porto Ceresio-Luino.
The road sections in question, in fact, especially when there is heavy rain or even, as has already happened, real “water bombs”, constitute a danger both for the safety of road users and of the homes adjacent to the road, given that the pouring water does not flow quickly from the road surface.
The representatives of the municipalities present at the meeting – Albizzate, Brusimpiano, Cremenaga, Lavena Ponte Tresa, Luino and Porto Ceresio – explained that, considering the large amount of traffic, including heavy traffic, that passes daily through the affected sections and net of the ongoing assessments regarding the placement of speed limit signs, the most suitable and effective solution appears to be to intervene structurally on the road surfaces, with the authorization of Anas.
For this purpose, joint inspections with the company were scheduled at the end of the meeting, represented at the meeting by the head of the Lombardy territorial structure Nicola Prisco and the center head of the structure Marco Mutti.
The manager Prisco assured that, in response to the presentation of projects and requests by a municipality identified as the leader among those involved, Anas will present its own considerations and supplementary studies to address in an integrated manner the problem represented by local authorities, and participate in the expenses.
