“Let us educate our children to respect people and in particular to respect women who are the essence of our lives.”
This is the heartfelt appeal launched this afternoon by the general director of the Sannio ASL, Gennaro Volpe during the event organized with the Benevento Public Prosecutor’s Office entitled “A kick to violence against women” – Solidarity demonstration dedicated to Giulia Tramontano against gender violence and to instill in younger people respect for women, for legality and a reminder to families to educate their children with healthy values.
Event centered on a football match at the “Cesare Ventura” field – adjacent to the Police Headquarters -, during which the ASL of Benevento and the Prosecutor’s Office were challenged.
“Even sport and this type of sporting event are very useful for kicking violence both in a figurative sense and in a concrete way and always in synergy with all bodies and institutions” remarked the chief prosecutor Aldo Policastro always committed to a series of initiatives specifically to prevent and combat gender violence.
“Today we remember Giulia Tramontano but we keep the spotlight on a phenomenon that unfortunately continues to claim victims” added the police chief of Benevento Giovanni Trabunella who stressed: “the actions of the judiciary and police forces are not enough. We need to eradicate that subculture that is intolerant of women’s freedom and emancipation.”
Applause to the organizers – the event was curated by Carlo Piccolo for the Prosecutor’s Office and Antonio Troiano for the ASL by the mayor of Benevento Clemente Mastella who also stressed the importance of training new generations to combat gender violence.
In short, a radical change of direction is needed and it must certainly be traced first and foremost by families with an education centered on respect for people and in particular for women, then schools and institutions must necessarily enter the ‘field’ with training and the prevention of certain phenomena which unfortunately continue to occupy the news on a daily basis.
