The Piedmont Region has allocated additional resources for the “domiciliary voucher”, a monthly contribution of 600 euros provided for by the “Scelta Sociale” measure, launched in February 2023. This voucher, intended for the purchase of family assistance services for non-self-sufficient peopleit’s available for a maximum of 24 months and is aimed at Piedmont residents, the elderly or those with disabilities.

With a financial endowment of over 10 million euros, the current edition of the voucher is reserved for those who have already submitted an application that was “admitted but not funded” due to lack of resources. Applicants must resubmit their application by July 5, 2024.

Applications must be submitted online via the Scelta Sociale portal of the Piedmont Region, using Spid credentials, the Electronic Identity Card (CIE) or the National Services Card (CNS). To obtain the “domiciliary voucher”, it is necessary that the family assistance service is active with an employment contract of at least 12 months and a minimum of 16 hours per week. The voucher is also recognized for professional assignments with the same duration and weekly hours requirements.

Domestic work in Piedmont

In 2023, INPS has registered 63,480 domestic workers in Piedmontof which 31,397 are family assistants, also known as carers. This number is down from 2022 data and follows a downward trend that began in 2020. Most carers in Piedmont are women (around 30,000)while the men are 1,600. As for nationality, foreign caregivers prevail (22,852) compared to the Italian ones (6,898) in all the Piedmontese provinces.
