The new municipal council of Rovereto, announced last night in the city council from the mayor Giulia Robolis the most left in recent history not only of Rovereto but probably all of Trentino.

The Democratic Party is sweeping up seats and, in addition to the mayor, receives as many as 3 departments: social care and well-being to Arianna Miorandi, tourism and artistic and cultural promotion to Micol Cossali, public works, maintenance and development of the heritage to Carlo Fait, who enters as a third of those elected despite being secretary of the Rovereto Democratic Party.

In addition to the 4 of the Democratic Party, the left front is strengthened by the two departments assigned to Common Workshop, that after having spent the electoral campaign deluding the voters into thinking that he was something other than that left wing of power that has reduced Rovereto to its current conditionsthe day after the first round she reached an agreement with Robol and is now rewarded with 2 seats: participation, commerce, free time, sport and youth policies for Michele Dorigotti, educational policies, integration and equal opportunities for Silvia Valduga, Seventh exponent of the left out of eight Ruggero Pozzer (Green and Left Alliance), who will deal with ecology and environment transition. For all of them a nice allowance of 2,896 euros per month.

The only surviving representative of the moderate area is the former civic Andrea Miniucchi of Campobase, who will be deputy mayor with responsibility for planning for sustainable and barrier-free urban development. However, he will be able to “console himself” with a monthly allowance of 3,740 euros.

For the record, Mayor Robol will receive a salary monthly of 8,447 euros.

Of the 5-legged coalition that had supported Robol, 2 remain excluded from the control room: the Civics for Autonomy of Davide Gamberoni, who left the Patt (who received the “sop” of delegation to the Circumscriptions) Rovereto Libera of the former councilor Mario Bortot, resoundingly rejected by the voters precisely because he was on the left (with a personal history entirely on the right and he had joined Francesco Valduga, following whom he had already suffered a strong rejection in the last provincial elections, in which he had run with Campobase, which he had abandoned the day after the electoral debacle); for Bortot also surpassed in preferences by Muhammad Waseem Asghar, also relegated to the margins of the majority which is now based on the Pd-Officina Comune axis.

Campobase remains totally dissatisfied and furious (perhaps only councilors aside): after having lost 2 out of 5 municipal councilors due to the affiliation with Officina Comune (the former councilor Mauro Previdi and the militant Glauco Arlanch), he must be satisfied with Miniucchi’s seat and with that one, which will arrive in next Tuesday’s session, of President of the City Council that the majority will assign to Claudio Ceminanother one who lost in the last provincial elections and not missed former president of the Central District, who will be rewarded with an armchair worth 1,689 euros a month.

In order to satisfy the “appetites” of the forces that support her, in fact, Mayor Robol breaks away from the custom that she wanted (always respected until 2020) that this figure of guarantee was left to the minorities.

In yesterday’s first session, Robol herself summoned the minorities showing themselves willing to accept their unitary proposal for the presidency but, when this arrived, with the indication of Paul Piccinniin the subsequent vote none of the 21 majority councilors voted for it.

The second vote (again with a qualified majority of 22 votes out of 32 to elect the president) saw the former mayoral candidate Gianpiero Lui himself propose Claudio Cemin for the presidency of the council.

Here – so to speak – “the donkey fell! Because the majority, which will also propose Cemin’s name in the next session on Tuesday 2 July, did not want to risk not electing him, needing at least one vote more than the 21 majority.

An absurdity, which seems to reveal the desire to “take all the seats”. Faced with this one can legitimately think “ain the face of democracy and participation flaunted in the electoral campaign!”. If the morning is a good indicator of the day, it will be a very gloomy council, a sort of sunset of the democratic life of the second city of Trentino, led by the Democratic Party.
