An eclectic venue just outside the metro stop Ciproa Heroes’ Squarewhere 15 tables – always full – they huddle together. There is some space to sit here and there between the walls, otherwise you just fit in standing; but this detail does not take anything away from theatmosphere Of WhistleIndeed, it makes it special. Simone, Marco e Luigi They have been friends since high school, and together, 8 years ago, they decided to open this place, inspired by the historic kiosk of Tazio Bridgein the neighborhood of Holy Mountainwhere they grew up. «It is the place that changed our youth, a meeting point, where we orbited every day to meet up with friends», says Simone. Recently, the three opened the restaurant a few meters away Beak (we talked about it here), a format of kiosk take away with sandwiches, shokupan and brioche, where from October, in the lower space, it will be possible to take part in tastings guided, with a cantina ranging from Italy, France, Spain to Georgia and South Africa.

The phenomenon of kiosks in Rome

I kiosks Of Romamostly once newsstands (increasingly excluded from common use due to new technologies), have long been empty e abandonedplaces of creativity for street art. In recent years, however, thanks to young entrepreneurs, they have been transformed into places moda, extravagant and from the touch bohemianfrequented by those who love good food, the natural wine, music and cultural events. Today kiosks are very popular because they represent the new trend in the food and wine and social panorama of Capital (and not only) and a point of reference for young people looking for an experience authentic, informal e fun.

A meeting point

“We wanted to create a place that could bring together many people, of all types and social backgrounds”, continues Simone, “where they could stay in touch, get to know each other and create new relationships”. The three ambitious guys also decided to replicate the pleasant and convivial format the big one: after a first experience, three years ago, on the Isola del Giglio, inside a camping area, in 2023 is born Blow a Fregene (here to find out more), in collaboration with the guys at Icarus (Imprudenti wines of the Castelli Romani, a project created to raise awareness of the native grape varieties of the area) and with Teo di Glass (wine shop in the Prati area).

Whistle, Blow, Beak

It’s funnyinterconnection that Simone, Marco and Luigi created between these three names. It all started in 2016, the year in which they opened their first kiosk in Piazzale degli Eroi, «when it wasn’t yet fashionable in Rome to call places with short names and concise, Luigi thought of the name “whistle“, for the pun there was with the word “kiosk”, and from there we continued, a bit for fun, along the same line». Fischio is just one example of how the creativity and resourcefulness of young entrepreneurs can give life to spaces of inclusion and sharing between people, creating a true and unfiltered atmosphere.
