“I no longer see the enthusiasm of a year ago. We are stuck on a path that began 15 years ago and which is still being discussed. We are making a mistake. VivaServizi for the last attempt at in-house assignment has a loss of 4 million euros, 4 million in investments lost for a failed path. In the end we will go to public tender, this is why we are wasting time”. This is what the mayor of Morro d’Alba, Enrico Ciarimboli (in the photo), said at the Ata assembly called to approve yet another extension of the waste collection service. Doubts were expressed by other mayors, several of whom abstained (including Senigallia, Monte San Vito, Camerata Picena, Serra San Quirico). Even the councilor of the Municipality of Ancona Stefano Tombolini highlighted the still long times to arrive at the assignment given the necessary passage in the city council and the Court of Auditors.

Some mayors have asked for an extension of six months instead of three: “The economic proposal from AnconAmbiente – explained Ata director Massimiliano Cenerini – has just arrived and we need to evaluate it. We need to see if it is economical and if it is comparable with the results of similar tenders. It will take a few weeks”. Six months was acceptable for the president of the Province Daniele Carnevali but Cenerini explained: “We no longer have the Anac hat, now Agcm is dealing with it and it is very careful and strict”. The mayor of Jesi Lorenzo Fiordelmondo remarked: “The plan in all respects was presented within the terms by AnconAmbiente and that is by 30 June. We are not able to get to the report on the plan because there is a need for further in-depth analysis on the economic part. We will probably get to December to start the assignment for all the procedures and approval in the city councils. But at that point it will be an extension of a different nature”.

The start of the new single management is now set for January 1, 2025, one year later for Senigallia and the municipalities of the Misa Valley. “You are asking us for another three-month extension – highlighted the mayor of Monte San Vito, Thomas Cillo – but in the territory we are encountering problems due to the continued precariousness of the fact that the company that manages the waste service cannot hire and cannot invest. Among other things, also due to the increase in tariffs, the issue is very much felt by citizens”. In the end, the majority assembly approved the new three-month extension, until September 30, and Carnevali announced AnconAmbiente meetings in the territories to illustrate the provincial single management plan.
