“Council blocked for 56 days”: the minority writes to the prefect – Teramo

TERAMO. For a month and a half in Teramo the municipal council has not been convened: a circumstance already denounced in recent days by some opposition councilors, in particular by the Forza Italia member Carlo Antonettiand which has now taken the form of a complaint to the prefect Fabrizio Stelo signed by the entire minority. “It’s been 56 days since an ordinary city council has been called and held in Teramo in clear violation of all democratic principles and those relating to administrative transparency, the need to delve into important issues for the city that cannot be treated randomly or on the spot but only publicly in the municipal assembly and within the context of a strategic and overall vision”, we read in the document sent to the prefect, “this is very serious and worrying as it is part of a particular difficulty in which the city and the Teramo community find themselves, with a total lack of strategic vision, lack of care even for ordinary things, works, including reconstruction and the Pnrr, blocked or carried out in biblical times, false announcements, decisive issues for the city not treated, unresolved and perpetually postponed, city and citizens on their knees and significant economic damage”. In the complaint, the minority forces also point out that question time, i.e. the councils dedicated to questions, have not been held for 40 days and are reduced to “a sterile participation by the municipal administration which, with a presumptuous and contemptuous attitude, does not deign to respond fully and formally to the many and serious issues raised”. The councilors then complain about the lack of responses regarding the request to convene the municipal council to establish a commission of inquiry into the cinema-theater and point out that “even the commissions are rarely convened”. The complaint highlights the lack of respect of the heads of the municipal administration towards citizens and councilors and the prefect is asked for a formal intervention, i.e. a warning or the exercise of substitute power, towards the president of the council, the mayor and the executive so that regular council activity can resume.
