TERNI – «The city council of 27 June ‘gave’ the city – so to speak – yet another drama, violations of the regulations, blatant demonstrations of inconclusiveness and mystification, lies upon lies, offensive attitudes…». Thus begins the note from the advisors of Fratelli d’Italia.
«At the center of the ignoble show, the 5 questions presented by the councilors of Fratelli d’Italia regarding social services on as many subjects. Matters which instead would be very serious due to the gravity of the related problems: territorial and community services, fight against gender violence, fight against poverty, social inclusion, support for the homeless. These are sectors for each of which the Bandecchi Administration has attempted to wear as many feathers in its cap, thanks to the ‘famous’ propaganda brochure produced by Palazzo Spada and placed in boxes in all the homes of the people of Terni in defiance of the prohibitions of equal conditions in full electoral campaign for the European elections: something for which, moreover, the aforementioned Bandecchi Administration has already been widely sanctioned.
With that brochure, the people of Terni were told – a lie – that Bandecchi and his men had achieved who knows what in these fields, as if they were their own projects and resources allocated in the last year, in complete discontinuity with the previous Administration. Nothing could be further from the truth, as far as we know: but, precisely to clarify, with our questions we intended to have it explained which acts and which new planning (none) authorized Bandecchi & C. to deceive the city by attributing merit to others, having done nothing else (in reality) than to let the offices carry out the work already planned and undertaken by the previous centre-right Administration.
And here is the show. Here is a president of the city council (with a hyperbole greater than those for which she has already distinguished herself in negative terms in recent months) who demands that the mayor respond before the councilors (as instead prescribed by the statute, the regulation and even common sense) can have illustrated their respective questions! Here is a mayor who is in a hurry, he has to leave (after all, his time spent in the city is well known, zero point something, almost like the votes of AP in the European elections …). But he finds the time to make a dog noise (he actually barks …) wanting to mimic the voices of the councilors who at that point protest: yet another offense to the people, to the role, to the popular mandate that the councilors are an expression of. Here is a mayor who, however, before leaving the room, manages to do at least two things and they are two things that say a lot. One, he tries to answer in place of the competent councilor Viviana Altamura (just like the deputy mayor Corridore did, replacing Mascia Aniello when we questioned him about the AST, then we all know how it ended…). Two, Bandecchi dictates the line: there is nothing to ask, much less to answer – he tries to argue – given that the incriminating brochure, then, he says, was paid for by him…
Come on, Mr. Mayor, this is really big…! Whoever paid for it, that brochure (the result of a shopping list prepared by the employees of the Authority, certainly paid with public money) was presented to all intents and purposes to the public opinion (mystifications aside…) as the story of the things done by the Municipality. This was and this is how it was fed to the citizens: and this is why, first of all, it can be fully entitled to be the object of any in-depth analysis requested by the city councilors.
But by now Bandecchi, after having been a dog, busy with completely different matters, had abandoned the council: and the ‘competent’ councillor Altamura, completely incapable of answering on the merits, smiles aside, had no choice but to stick to the instruction sheet that the mayor had just given her: He paid for that brochure out of his own pocket (here’s the refrein), so what this council has done (or hasn’t done) in terms of social services should not interest you…
Statute and regulation under your feet, for a change. Offended councilors, as well as the institution they represent, for a change. Stuttering and do-nothing Giunta, for a change. Luckily the people of Terni have started to understand.”
