The investment program implemented by the Administration for an increasingly people-friendly city continues, with the installation of approximately 25 new children’s games in various city parks, including swings, turrets, spring games and Flamingos, combined games in the shape of animals, for an investment of over 140 thousand euros.

This investment is part of a broader strategy to enhance the city’s green heritage. A fundamental part of this strategy is the valorization of the areas dedicated to games for the little ones, who for the first time see a dedicated assignment for installations and maintenance.

The new children’s games, cutting-edge play structures in line with current safety regulations, represent a useful tool to encourage sociality and intergenerational exchanges, and are configured as meeting places for the little ones but also for contact between families and elderly people who frequent parks.

The children’s games have been installed in the following green areas: Magnolie park, via Leporati; green area of via Guido Rossa, Via Luigi Casalesi, via Carlo Casalegno; Edgardo Carli park in via Minghetti; park of piazza Virginia Woolf in the square of the same name and in Gaione.

Mayor Michele Guerra declared: “With the placement of the new games in many green areas of our city, the Municipality maintains a strong commitment, not only towards the maintenance of these spaces, but towards their implementation. They are places very popular with young people and families and the excellent quality games that have been arranged in recent days, in many of these areas, will improve the forms of sociality and relationality that the municipal greenery is able to express, especially in these seasons. It is the sign of a commitment that we want to carry forward and which we will also carry forward in other parts of the city in the coming months, according to the programs that the Administration has set itself”.

The Councilor for Public Works and Legality with responsibility for Public Green Space, Francesco De Vanna, explained: “This project tangibly represents our commitment to an increasingly people-friendly city. The installation of new children’s games not only enriches the green areas, making them more attractive and functional, but also contributes to improving the safety of the city. Well-maintained green areas are essential for promoting a sense of community and safety. Seeing the parks animated by the presence of children, families and elderly people interacting with each other is the sign of a city that is alive and attentive to the needs of all its inhabitants. We will continue to invest in this direction also with a view to promoting ever greater widespread safety. The recent investments in upgrading lighting also go in this direction, which also concern the city parks starting from the Parco Ducale”.

The aim is to promote environmental sustainability and the use of green spaces in the city as places of community and meeting, also through the care of large historic parks such as Parco Ducale and Cittadella and all the green areas present in the area.

The Municipality of Parma boasts an important natural heritage, which is made up of over 4 million square meters of public greenery, over 42 thousand trees, more than 700 children’s games divided into over 130 areas, as well as public fountains and dog areas.

According to the tender specifications prepared by the Municipality of Parma, the games were installed following the safety regulations in force and were tested before being opened to the public.
