The team of Mayor Salvatore Quinci’s council was completed with the swearing-in on Thursday. After the appointment of the first five councilors, the mayor appointed Giampaolo Caruso and Isidonia Giacalone. The first goes to the delegations of Relations with the City Council – Environment – Infrastructures – Civil Protection – Relations with the Institutions. Isidonia Giacalone, on the other hand, is responsible for Welfare and Inclusion, Public Education – Urban Decor and Public Green. The two join the council team which already included councilors Vito Torrente, Germana Abbagnato, Vito Billardello, Rino Giacalone and Gianfranco Casale. Furthermore, the mayor has entrusted the delegation of urban planning (previously under the responsibility of Rino Giacalone) to councilor Vito Torrente.

“A council of councilors – the words of the mayor Salvatore Quinci – strongly determined to respect and fulfill the mandate that the citizens have given us, improve the quality of life of our fellow citizens and above all continue along the path of socio-economic development of our city. In the council there are those who contributed to winning these elections, who built the electoral path with us and together with the coalition the path that led us to govern this city. With great satisfaction we close the municipal council in perfect harmony.” Ithe first meeting will be called immediately: “The first full session of the new full Council of the so-called Quinci-bis will address all the issues of the summer programming that is already looming. The date of the elections was quite unfortunate because we quickly had to approach all the issues related to the summer. We are already on the ball, in continuity with the previous mandate, to guarantee a serene summer for all our fellow citizens”.

“I am truly happy – explains the new councilor Isidonia Giacalone – to be part of this team. I thank my mayor, the deputy mayor and the people who have placed their trust in me. I have some really important responsibilities, I will try to honor them as has been done in previous years. I would like to carry them all forward with the same intensity and the same motivation. Those who know me know that I always put my heart into the things I do. I would like to combine this with the good for Mazara, to build something more important, brighter and as my mayor says, even more inclusive”.

Satisfaction also in Caruso’s words: “Four very important delegations, which represent the relationship of esteem and trust not only with myself but also with what I primarily represent, i.e. the Fratelli d’Italia party which has already kept its promise of attempting to connect the city of Mazara of Valida it to the institutions. With these important delegations we will work so that Mazara can count again within the institutions. Only our city can benefit from it. It’s time to build. I am proud to return to the City Council as part of a city government. I will spend a lot, I want to build for my city and for all the citizens.” On the possibility of also maintaining the position of municipal councilor, Caruso explains: “It’s something we are evaluating. I believe there is a need to answer the other question regarding the construction of a new ruling class. We’re not used to being a stopper for anyone. If you deserve important institutional roles, it is right that there is someone who eventually takes your place to collaborate with the institutions. It would be belittling to say I’ll go away and someone else will come in. Even if it were to happen, we would have done nothing but increase the possibility of a new construction, a new ruling class that carries our same principles on its shoulders.”
